Bar codes provide a small amount of information, usually about a product it is printed on (like grocery item checkout scanners use), which is unchangeable once the barcode is printed. Barcodes can’t be read natively by phone cameras. Barcodes don’t take a user anywhere, but QR codes can take them everywhere, by rendering any online form, asset, content, and much more. And the Form Engine QR codes are permalinks that are centrally controlled and easily updatable in the Form Engine.
