Form Engine gives you the option to create a custom label for a field instead of using the field name. This feature works similar to Quickbase’s “Alternate Label Text” on native forms.

To change or remove a field label in your form, double-click on the field, which will open the field options popup.  You can edit the field name in the Label section.  Click Done when complete.

For fields where you want nothing to appear in the box, remove the text from the Label box and leave it blank.  Sometimes field labels inside the fields are redundant to field labels your form has outside the field, and the form is cleaner without the extra field labels in the fields. This functionality is ideal for Read Only fields that are placed on a form.  You can also sometimes put Help text in place of the field label, if you want your users to see something about that field rather than the field label itself.
