There are two methods for accessing Template Properties. You can either click on the  Options  button in the upper, right hand corner, or click on any blank space within your template which will open the properties dialogue box. Here you can see the target Quickbase app that your form is currently digitized to. You can change your target app for a form if you choose the wrong app at any time, though that will start the form building process over (choosing target table, fields, etc.).

In the template properties, you can swap your template document for another. This makes it easy to keep your forms current without having to re-map from scratch every time a new version is published or other small changes to the master document are made. It will also keep you from having to update your permalinks. (Note: both source docs need to be the same # of pages to exchange them).

The Save, Save As, and Discard option under the  Save  menu behave as you would expect. Save updates the form with any changes that have been made. Save As is used to make a new form. Discard allows you to exit without saving any changes to your form from the last Save.

Improved Form Builder Tools

The Form Engine Builder Interface has been enhanced with new tools that improve not only the UI but also how you interact with the tool. These advancements make it even easier for you to digitize your forms. Below is a list of the new enhancements and what they can do for you.

  1. Field Display Improvements which cover how the fields appear on your form and the information provided about the field when you hover over it with your mouse. For example:

    1. Field Names have been trimmed so they do not extend outside of the field perimeters.

    2. When you hover over a field, you are able to see the table it is associated with, the field type which is represented by an icon, and the field name as it is listed in your application.

  1. You can now Select Multiple Fields to work with at a time by dragging your cursor over the desired fields to group them together. From here you can move them around on your form even between pages, resize them all at once, and even delete them.

  1. Fields now have context menus which can be accessed by hovering over a desired field and right clicking. From here you can access several different field functions including Field Properties. If you select several fields at once to work with then there are even more options made available to you.

NOTE: Menu Options will vary when working with Parent/ Child Fields.

  1. Advancements have been made to Template Properties, how you access them, and the information that is made available to you. For instance:

    1. In addition to clicking on the Options button, Template Properties can also be accessed by double clicking in any blank space on the template.

    2. Increase details regarding target tables, the fields being utilized from those tables, and any relationships are just a few pieces of information that you can quickly access in the template properties.

  1. Now you can use Keyboard Shortcuts when working with fields on your template. This is a great enhancement for Builder because it gives you the ability to manipulate fields on a micro level. Below is the list of shortcuts that are currently available, and function they perform.

    1. Ctrl: select multiple / deselect selected

    2. Arrows - move selected field by pixel

    3. Delete - remove selected field(s) from template

    4. Enter - open selected field properties

    5. Tab - select next field

    6. Escape - deselect field(s)
