This unique and valuable feature lets you digitize any image, document or other content for read-only and PDF/print purposes, in seconds. The digitized assets do not interact with Quickbase (no data into or out of them), only exist as digitized images in the Form Engine, so they can be used anywhere with no user licensing. All digitized assets can also be centrally managed and updated as needed just like all Form Engine forms.
To use this, upload your image or document as usual, choose a target Quickbase app (if there is an app you want this asset to be used in, or any app if you’re just going to use it outside of Quickbase). The table list will prompt you to choose a table, but you don’t need to. The image is now automatically saved in your library, and the QR code and URL will work to render the asset without having to press the Save button (which is grayed out). If you’d like to change the Title or Description, the Save button will be enabled, and you can Save those changes. The Add Record URL and QR Code for it will render that asset for anyone, anywhere you want to put it for them.
You can also create the Edit or Print Record fields in any table(s) in your target Quickbase app that you want, those fields will behave the same and display the read-only asset for the user when clicked, and let the user create and save a PDF of the asset if they want to.
This feature alone provides a complete solution to extend your information and service reach to your customers/users anywhere they might need it, with URLs usable anywhere online, and QR Codes displayed on screen or printed anywhere in the physical world. And you have central, real-time control of all those assets from your Form Engine screen, updating the assets by replacing the background image anytime they need to be updated.
Uses for this are practically endless: agile, instant assets to use anywhere you want to give your users something more or better than you give them today:
